Following the conclusion of the large-scale coalition campaign, the entirety of China is in a state of economic recovery. The victor of the battle, the state of Qin, is no different. There, the political parties led by Ying Zheng and Buwei Lü continue their inner conflict. Having played the role of king in the coalition battle, Zheng has the trust of the people—but Lü is far from out of the fight. In 18 months, he plans to interrupt Zheng's coming-of-age ceremony.

Meanwhile, a Zhao army numbering 20, 000 troops has set out toward Qin. In the royal court, due to the lack of generals capable of responding to the incoming threat, Lü slyly suggests that Zheng take command. However, Cheng Jiao, Zheng's half-brother, volunteers instead. As they grew to trust each other during the coalition battle, Zheng now accepts Jiao as his replacement.

Kingdom

However, the Zhao forces retreat a mere half-day after clashing with Jiao's army. With trouble quickly brewing in the shadows, the internal struggle of Qin is only complicated further. There are only two men Zheng feels he can rely on: Bi, a general who commands 30, 000 men; and Xin, the leader of the Fei Xin force.

Kingdom was my hidden gem anime of 2022. Binged all 4 previous seasons and caught up in this season, and I am glad I discovered it! For this 4th season, I think it has a little something for everyone: action, politics, heart-wrenching moments, comedy here and there, etc. The story is as exciting as ever with the large-scale battles and we see a lot of growth with characters and in their relationships with one another. I think that was the best part for me; somehow, this show effortlessly communicates growth and maturity with good pacing and well-placed flashbacks that give context to the minds of ... key characters this season. This is well woven into the plot and makes for an engaging viewing experience. I know some may not enjoy this as much as the end of previous season where the stakes felt higher. I do think that there was somewhat less tension in the battles this season and this is the only part I wish was done better. But all in all, the experience that the plot gave overshadows that for me, and that makes it a solid 9 out of 10 in my opinion. Don't sleep on this great anime!!

It features everything, from the heartbreaking moments of losing a loved one, to getting over things that are extremely difficult to overcome, forgiving the unforgivable, accepting the consequences, and striving for greatness.

Toilet Bound Hanako Kun, Vol. 1 Manga Ebook By Aidairo

The character development just keeps getting better, the fights are of the same caliber as last season, and the pacing is great.

If you've made it this far in this series, you won't be disappointed with this season, far from it, you'll be glad ... you made it this far. Overall, this season in my opinion is the pinnacle of the series as of right now and continues to give the viewer excitement, enjoyment and something to look forward to. > This review was made after Season 4 ended

Such a WASTE of potential. The historical material that this show is based on is a massive gold-mine for TV, just waiting for the right people to take it on. The audience can deduce that the following will occur when starting the series: China is eventually unified as the country we know today (minus some expanded territory). Those who know more may be aware that the states were unified ~230 BC, which began the Qin dynasty shortly before the Han dynasty. Besides this, the events that occur in the plot are quite unpredictable (unless you know a shit tonne of details ... on Chinese history). The 3rd season features an extremely fascinating character, Li Mu - who stole the show with his incredible wit. If you enjoyed Death Note for its clever characters, this may be a treat for you. So this show features some history, politics, war and brutality... So... Who's the target audience? Adults right? Well, the writers don't seem to know. When the dialogue isn't political, it can turn into something extremely childish and cringe. There’s also a handful of ‘silly’ scenes where you see characters grope each other’s boobs (well, it is anime). Or when Qiang Lei explains how she thinks babies are made (because these characters share the minds of children, not adults…). Many of the characters look like actual clowns, like Wang Qi. Others have rabbit teeth and bizarre hairstyles. Why? Is this supposed to be a kids show? Lucky for the writers, they have amazing reference material, but their ability to write dialogue can sometimes be god damn awful and lacks maturity. An intriguing character like Li Mu, who in my opinion, is neither good nor evil, is better defined by his actions, which explain his motives and character far better than his dialogue does... I imagine if we got better dialogue, many of the interesting characters in this show would become even more incredible. I was at the edge of my seat watching this 3rd season, but eventually got disinterested by season 4 because I failed to take this show seriously.
